These ornaments traditionally contain a prayer to protect the wearer.
The style of the Yemeni smiths is unique, though it shows influences from both Islamic and Ethiopian Christian craftsmen.

Description: An early Islamic moulded green glass cupping vessel with pipette extension, used in the medical procedure of bloodletting.
The cupping glass was used to create suction and draw the blood to the surface of the skin. The physician would then make the incision.
Loss on pipe; otherwise intact.
