Description: A rare and exquisite banded alabaster chalice.
The vessel has a flat, circular base and short, slender stem, from which the body rises elegantly, opening out into a subtly everted lip.
The body is decorated with relief carvings of three open lotus flowers.
The stone has a beautifully translucent quality.
Intact, with superb patina and wear, the tiny chips to the lip and base exhibiting great age.
