Description: A rare and superb Indus Valley votive pottery plate.
Buff slip with overpainted decoration on the interior and exterior in the form of thirty-eight fish (according to Parpola, representations of a sky god), and repeated sequence of geometric designs around the interior rim.
Red, yellow, green and brown mineral pigments. Intact, with earth deposits evident.
This piece is accompanied by a thermoluminescence test report from the University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, giving an approximate age of 5350 years BP +/- 25%.
Origin: Nal phase, circa 5350 B.P. Mehrgarh culture, Indus Valley
Dimensions: Diameter: 33.3 cm / Height: 8.3 cm
Condition: Intact, with earth deposits evident.
This piece is accompanied by a thermoluminescence test report from the University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, giving an approximate age of 5350 years BP +/- 25%.

Description: A magnificent and rare Dian culture bronze wine flask cast in the form of a gourd, the stopper surmounted by the figure of a bull. The body of the vessel features two registers of decoration, with hatched triangular designs below the rim and a band of interlocking spirit figures at the bottom of the neck. The body of the bull is decorated with a fluid, interlocking concentric design.
Ex Mossgreen Auctions, Fine Australian & International Art & Antiques, featuring the Collection of the Late Harley Baxter, Melbourne, 22-23 November 2009.
Origin: Dian culture, 6th-5th century B.C., Yunnan
Dimensions: Height: 34.5 cm / Diameter at base: 14.0 cm
Condition: Beautiful dark patina overall; the base exhibits evidence of an ancient repair; the tip of the left horn of the bull has been repaired; otherwise, the condition is superb.
