Brachiopods are exclusively marine animals with a body covered by a shell formed of two valves of unequal size which are connected either by muscles or locking devices. They live at various depths, anchored to a base by a flexible stalk and live on microscopic life, which they drive towards their mouth by means of whirling ciliated arms. These superb pyritised specimins are typical of a long-extinct large spiriferoid brachiopod.

Description: Fossilised Shore Crabs (species intermediate) The carapace of crabs and other crustaceans- that is, the shield-like covering on the thorax and head - is often the only body part to survive fossilization. Crustaceans in general do not appear in abundance that brachiopods, trilobites and molluscs achieve. These well preserved specimens display a strong carapace together with partial claws and legs as well as much ventral (underside) detail.
