Description: A fantastic Eastern Highlands gourd mask. The bright parrot and cassowary feather decoration is attached to tightly woven cane. The front of the mask is also decorated with cowrie shells and dotted designs, some of which have remant lime infill. The gourd has an encrusted patina on the front and the interior, which also exibits insect trails. There is some loss of cassowary feathers at top left side.
Origin: Collected in Ikanofi village in the Henganofi area, Eastern Highlands, New Guinea
