Description: An extremely old Bamoun or Tikar ceramic house figure.
Figures of this type represent pygmies and were believed to provide protection for the house and family, in particular children.
Intact with superb patina; the hole on reverse was used for insertion of magical substances.
Attached to perspex base with glue.
Origin: Circa late 19th to early 20th century, Bamoun or Tikar people, Cameroon Grasslands
