Description: An exceptionally old and rare Upper Sepik garamut terminal, carved with stylized faces in relief.
The carved surface is worn though the images are still clearly visible; the wood exhibits the typical dessication and splitting that is indicative of such great age in Melanesian wooden objects.

Presented on a custom steel display mount.
Origin: Circa first half of the 19th century, Iwam or Kubka peoples, Upper Sepik region, New Guinea.
