Description

A very fine lacquer and wood ink-stone box. Carved in tiger form, the outside heavily decorated with lacquer and painted motif including details of the tiger, along with classic scrolling and floral designs; the lower sides with phoenix images between the front a rear legs. The inside of the vessel with the stone intact, while the grinding stone on the front is missing. The grinding stone holder is in classic form with the lower square portion representing the earth and the upper domed section on the lid representing the sky.

Length: 19 cm / Height: 5.7 cm

Condition:

Due to shrinkage of the wood, the lid no longer fits securely to the base, and there are areas of minor restoration, in overall fine condition.
