Description

A very fine Ptolemaic to Roman linen and gesso-painted cartonnage panel. The front with two large friezes, the upper containing a winged scarab, a signifying of the god "Khepri", who represents the morning sun, and also the renewal of life. Atop the wings lie two deities. The lower frieze has an image of the goddess "Isis" her wings outstretched with the Sun-Disc on her head.
