Description

A fine Himalayan gilt bronze statuette of the Vajradhara (bearer of the thunderbolt) Buddha. This image is depicted seated on a lotus flower pedestal base in the lotus position wearing elaborate jewellery and crown. The hands are crossed at the wrists in front of the chest in the Vajarahundara (union) mudra . The right hand holding a vajara (male) while the left holds a bell (female). Interestingly the vajara and bell are cast separately in socketed into the hands. The base sealed, with a light object possibly a scroll inside.

Significant wear to the gilt decoration, in overall fine condition.
