Description

An Egyptian miniature bronze sarcophagus for an ichneumon (mongoose). The mongoose was sacred in Egyptian religion and symbolised underworld spirits. Ti was revered for its ability to kill snakes.
This piece has been cleaned by a museum conservator.

Verdigris patina, in good condition.
